This manual covers a complete tear-down and rebuild of the AS68RC, A460, A465 and M036A6 6-Speed transmissions.
The AS6 six speed medium duty truck transmission manufactured by Aisin Seiki Co. Ltd in Japan. It is found in the Isuzu cab over engine, with the lighter duty version A460 behind the 3.0 liter diesel engine or the heavier duty A465 behind the 5.2 liter diesel engine. There are dimensional differences in the internal parts between the two versions therefore care should be taken when replacing said parts. The AS6 is also found in the Mitsubishi Fuso cab over engine models and is referred to as the M036A6. Internal parts also vary between the Isuzu/Dodge Ram and the Fuso models. The AS6 can also be found in Dodge Ram 2500, 3500 and cab and chassis models with the 6.7 liter diesel engine and has a model designation of AS68RC or A45X. Variations in the internal parts as well as operational differences will be shown where possible in this tear down and assembly manual.
