To aid in establishing a systematic service check procedure for the Mack Diesel Engine, a basic trouble shooting guide is included in this section. The guide lists the probable causes in the order they are most likely to happen.

The guide does not list all symptoms or problems that may be encountered during the engines service life nor does it give all the answers for the symptoms listed. It is, however meant to stimulate a train of thought and indicate a work procedure directed toward the source of trouble.
