POWER LINE CARRIER (PLC) TEST APPLICATION* FOR TRAILER ABS

• Effective March 2001, a Federal Government mandate required that heavy-duty trucks have an in-cab trailer ABS warning lamp. Using a new SAE standard called PLC communication, the change requires trailer ABS ECU’s to communicate with the tractor ECU via the J560 power line to activate the warning lamp.
• Test tractor and trailer coupled or trailer independently for MID messages.
• Toggle in-cab trailer ABS warning lamp ON/OFF to confirm operation.
• Verify trailer ABS ECU for MID 10 and MID 11 messages.
